PINK+GREY
Warsaw, 2000

Published in Moje Mieszkanie

When grey wasn't so popular, when pink wasn't popular...
I used my talent to organize space to simplify the layout of this apartment. One door left leading to the bathroom, one leading to the bedroom and sliding doors integrated with gypsum-board shelves to divide or join the kitchen and the livingroom, and avoid having extra furniture.

POEM PACKAGE
1999, Warsaw, Academy of Fine Arts dep. of Interior Design

Materials: hand-made paper, impregnated with candle, balsa.

Let's go back to some hand-made object - this project I love.
My professor of graphic design always had fabulous topics for us. This one consisted of designing the package of a poem. Each student picked a different poem. Mine was:

Widzac,
ze rosna Ci skrzydla,
nie ludz sie,
ze jestes poeta.
Wiatrak tez ma skrzydla.

It's about growing wings, and a mill. It is a metaphore that reminds you of being humble.
I used the Ikar and Leonardo inspirations and created my own wing. Foldable, dynamic wing.

UNICEF BUBBLES

This just to show you how fun statistics can be ;)
An illustration I designed for the annual UNICEF report to give a sharp idea of the statistics just looking at the image.
BUSHES...
2010, competition

This competition was a lot of fun.
From the beginning I knew there was almost no chance to win any award with that kind of idea, but I though maybe some members of the jury would have a great sense of humor and this concept would provide them a good time.

The project consisted of redesigning the bathroom of the Polish Institute of Architects (SARP) which is located in a historical palace. And everybody knows...architects can't pick the best for themselves ;)
Just jocking. Actually I expected the members of the jury to choose a classical typical project for a palace, which mine wasn't at all. This is what they finally did.

So now a few words about my project. As I said I wanted it to be a fun place, the bathroom. My intention was to provide a surprise. So you walk along the beautifully decorated walls of the main corridors, then you go downstairs, the walls are getting dark, I wanted them black. And then...you are outside, in the garden surrounding the palace and you just go to the bushes instead of using the elegant restrooms!
I used simple prints of straws, grass, and trees and covered the walls with them, so when you enter the restroom you feel like being in bushes.
Also I adapted the restroom to handicapped people, which no other project did. What a shame 1/ nobody else thought about it, 2/ the members of the jury didn't request it, as designers!

Well, I hope to see a smile on your face when you have a look at some concept images :)

HEATHROW TERMINAL 5, VIP LOUNGES
2005-2006, YRM, London

So here is my first office project after many years of free-lance.
Different dynamic, different organization, but the same goal ;)
I went to London to visit some friends, decided to take a few printed resumes with me and to drop them of at a few offices nearby the place I stayed. I got a job interview within 5 days and a job offer within 3... The office management was looking for a designer that would be able to coordinate interior designers and architects to work on this very prestigious job: Terminal 5 was at that time the largest building site of Europe. And I was the perfect person to be here with my double background in interior design and in architecture.

So I worked on the prestigious 5 VIP lounges for British Airways. The size of one was comparable to the size of a soccer field! A great concept to help to become true. After one year of hard work with 25 other architects, here are some pictures of the lounges. The finest materials were used, high-tech screens, corian bathroom cabins, corian bars, amazing light fixtures, everything custom-made of course.
I wish I got some first class tickets to use on BA to have a personal look at the space... But It wasn't part of the christmas bonus ;)

How do you like the result?
