A bit about myself. I was born in Warsaw, grew up in Paris, studied in Warsaw, Paris and Chicago. I also lived in London and in New York for a while, working with the most famous architects. This blog gives you an overview of diverse projects I worked on, including architecture, design, interior design, art.
FXL - Warsaw, Poland
Transformation of a ruined 47 m2 appartment located in a fine historical building of the center of Warsaw into a charming nest with outdoor terrace.
Concept:
Keeping the charm of the historical atmosphere and adding to it a touch of contemporary elegance.
Tricks:
Restoring the old existing wood floor, cleaning the existing plain-wood doors almost up to wood and leaving only some skratches of old paint - keeping them rough to contrast with the fine accessorizes and the pristine wood floor, restoring the beautiful very tall wood double-windows,
Removing one wall between the kitchen and the lounge, just enough to underline the fantastic row of windows with view on the top of the trees
Adding some shades of grey on walls and fabrics to add some elegance, choosing simple forms and small details like a fine vintage mirror in the bathroom, providing very few, but well-chosen pieces of eclectic furniture (contemporary lounge, historical French bench, rustical table, iconic plexi armchairs): and this to magnify the beauty of the historical architecture and space.
The 3,5m-tall common space facing the south with views on trees and doors leading to the terrace is bright and sunny. It was kept white with some grey accents.
The bedroom and bathroom, facing north, are opposite: grey with white accents to block the light coming from the tall window, to provide a comfortable and long night sleep.

PINK+GREY
Warsaw, 2000
Published in Moje Mieszkanie
When grey wasn't so popular, when pink wasn't popular...
I used my talent to organize space to simplify the layout of this apartment. One door left leading to the bathroom, one leading to the bedroom and sliding doors integrated with gypsum-board shelves to divide or join the kitchen and the livingroom, and avoid having extra furniture.
